Who we are

Family Unit Trust was established in July 2020 to strengthen individuals and families in Manchester affected by cancer and unexpected sickness. We help to promote, protect, and enhance health and welfare through the provision of vital information and practical support.

We promote and protect the health of the public through the provision of information and raising of public understanding of the nature, causes, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of all forms of cancer and we also provide practical support to people affected by cancer.

The aim of Family Unit Trust is the relief of sickness and the preservation and protection of good health for the public benefit.

We Undertake activities to provide information and raise awareness of the nature, causes, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of all forms of cancer, promoting early diagnosis and cure.

We Provide practical assistance, support, services, and items of equipment, both directly and through the provision of grants of financial assistance, to people affected by cancer.

We promote research into all forms of cancer, the useful results of which shall be published for the public benefit. 

Now at Family Unit Trust, we run various activities to empower our women like the ‘Women Connect’ done monthly, which directly addresses the stigma associated with seeking professional help when illness or worrying health symptoms appear. We organize various workshops and training for our women. We run children’s holiday activities such as Easter, Summer, and Christmas playscheme which seek to help families in the school holidays, to families for creating awareness of cancer and its preventative measures, our events include Mental health and well-being activities, training, mentoring, and counseling on how to access healthcare services, benefits, etc, Events on Health and nutrition, Domestic violence and staying safe, Training on Employability skills. Food bank to provide weekly food parcels to our beneficiaries and we just started to offer befrienders services. We challenge the denial, battle discrimination, cultural myths that exist, and social stigmas to promote acceptance, we fight poverty and foster community unity and consistency. Volunteering opportunities, signposting    to other specialist support services, fostering inclusion and community cohesion, cancer awareness campaign, Training workshops, Poverty alleviation, back-to-school support for children, young people, and their parents, Foodbank services,

Since the birth of Family Unit Trust, we have made a remarkable difference in the community, we’ve supported over a thousand families delivering efficient and effective tailored support services. and we were privileged to be awarded the Charity of the Year by the Malawi Heritage 2022. We won the Acquisition International Award in the category of Most Dedicated Cancer Awareness NPO 2023. Family Unit Trust is now recognized in our community for all the diverse activities and contributions to our families, charities, and friends with cancer. The organization became a fully formed charity with support from our community, council, family, and friends.
